Transform your space with the natural beauty of stone.
Whether you are building a new home or considering a remodel, natural stone is a worthwhile investment for your space. The look and feel of a one-of-a-kind stone slab cannot be matched and when properly maintained will be a part of your home for years to come.
Granite
Granite is the traditional favorite kitchen countertop material for its large selection of unique colors and patterns, proven durability and lasting value.
Onyx
There is no denying the sheer beauty of onyx. The stone's colors and veining make each slab a piece of art. Some colors of onyx are translucent and can be backlit.
TRAVERTINE
Travertine is a form of limestone that is known for its consistent color, long streaks, and warm elegance. Travertine is best suited for low traffic areas.
Limestone
Add warmth to any space with limestone accents. Though possibly not ideal for busy kitchen counters, consider limestone for flooring or fireplace surrounds.
QUARTZITE
Quartzite is naturally strong and heat-resistant. It has a beautiful and decorative sparkling pattern and is relatively new for countertop use.
Marble
With its timeless look, marble will bring an element of sophistication to any space in the home. This beautiful natural stone is often white with gray veins.
Soapstone
Soapstone is naturally heat and stain resistant coming in varying shades of gray. The color of soapstone can darken with age, giving a beautiful worn look.
Natural Stone Care and Cleaning
DAILY MAINTENANCE
The easiest way to keep your natural stone looking great is to avoid the bad habits that may damage it in the first place.
- Blot up spills immediately
- Clean surfaces using hot water and a sponge or soft cloth
- When necessary, use a specially formulated natural stone cleaner
- Use coasters under all glasses, bottles and cans
- Use trivets under pots and pans
- Use cutting boards
SEALING
- Drip a puddle of water on your countertop, note the time and observe:
- If the puddle darkens quickly then sealing granite countertops is required, multiple coats annually
- If it takes 4 or 5 minutes to darken then a few coats of a good sealer should be applied, re-sealing every 3-5 years
- If it darkens in 10 to 15 minutes then apply a sealer, only one coat with many years between applications
- If the puddle doesn't darken or takes 30 minutes or longer then sealing is not necessary
- Choose only high quality natural stone sealers
- Sealing will not prevent etching or scratching
AVOID
- Don't use generic cleaning products or common household cleaners
- Don't use vinegar, ammonia, lemon or orange as cleaners
- Don't sit or stand on your countertops
- Don't store liquids or toiletry products directly on your countertop surface
